Frequently asked questions

What is CBD?

CBD, also known as Canna Bi Diol, is a chemical compound from the Cannabid sativa plant, which is also known as marijuana or hemp, It's a naturally occurring substance that's used in products like oils and edibles to impart a feeling of relaxation and calm. Unlike its cousin, delta-9- tetra hydro cannabinol ( THC), which is the major active ingredient in marijuana, CBD is not psychoactive. Your Dog or cat won't get 'high'.

You say CBD won't get my pet high?

Nope. Cannabidiol (CBD) is a cannabinoid, a type of natural compound found in cannabis and hemp. There are literally hundreds of cannabinoids in the Hemp plant. Another well-known cannabinoid is tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). This compound is known for its psychoactive effects when consumed with cannabis, or marijuana.THC produces what many consider a “high,” or an altered state characterized by euphoria, pleasure, or heightened sensory perception.CBD doesn’t cause a high like THC. Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) is only legal when sold in consentrtation levels below .3

What is CBD used for with pets?

Studies have been done that show CBD can reduce anxiety, seizures, pain, and inflammation in dogs/cats, and in some cases improve skin conditions. Doctor Dawggy recommends doing your own research and speaking with your Veterinarian before treating your pet. CDB has not been evaluated by the FDA nor is this product made to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease.

So CBD is safe for my pets?

New studies and research papers have shown that CBD is safe for dogs. The only real side-effect is drowsiness - so your dog might get a little sleepy. And who doesn't need a good nap! Cannabis itself is not safe for dogs. Never expose your dog to Cannabis.

Ah....umm...is CBD 'Legal' ?

Yes it is. The 2018 Farm Bill, industrial hemp was declassified from a schedule I drug, allowing hemp to be grown legally on the federal level. Legally, products cannot contain more than 0.3 percent of delta-9 tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) concentration (on a dry weight basis). CBD oil is federally legal in the USA. CBD products can be purchased in all US states. Doctor Dawggy will keep you updated as regulations change on Pet CBD Products.

Why Doesn't Doctor Dawggy Have 50% off sales?

Doctor Dawggy sells CBD Tinctures and Treats at the same price as the other guys, the MSRP (Manufacturers Sugested Retail Price)....but Doctor Dawggy doesn't believe in deceiving their customers into beliveving the MSRP is a 'sale price'. See if you can find the product ever sold at that price they've marked down from.....you won't. It's hype to get you to believe you're buying it at half price....which just isnt true. Nor is 'free shipping'. It's built into the cost of the MSRP. Doctor Dawggy wants to be your friend....and friends don't deceive each other just to make a sale. We're a 'mum and pup' and we want to be upfront. When a supplier gives Doctor Dawggy a break, we pass it along to you, because we like you! :)

How will I know if my Dog/Cat has anxiety?

How do you know when your dog/cat has anxiety? There are many signs a dog or cat will show to indicate some level of stress or anxiety. You might think your pet is not eating due to an upset stomach, but in reality, it could be they are suffering from anxiety. The sooner you can determine an anxiety/stress attack, the better it is for your pet. Just like humans, if you let it go, it becomes more routine for the pet and harder to remedy. Anxiety can affect all breeds of dogs/cats and it affects all pets differently. All dogs/cats will experience some level of anxiety, but a high level of constant stress/anxiety is not healthy for your pet. If left untreated, your pet may develope an anxiety disorder. Left untreated, anxiety disorders can lead to destructive and other unhealthy behavioral issues. Some signs of anxiety in a dog or cat include:

  • Shivering
  • Cowering/hiding
  • Barking/Howling when no ones home (separation anxiety )
  • Obsessive digging
  • Lack of appetite
  • Running away
  • Biting or chewing on themselves, excessive licking, eating their hair
  • Destruction of objects (Toys, furniture, shoes)
  • Quirks like lip licking, looking away, lifting paws
  • Constant shifting, pacing, panting
These are just some of the signs your dog/cat could be under duress and in need of a remedy. Talk to your veterinarian and look for calming solutions for your pets. Do your research on CBD and items like therapeutic beds or comfort/thunder shirts/vest/coats. Items that give your pet a sense of comfort will help in their relaxation and give them a healthier life. The longer you wait the harder it maybe to help your friend.
